ExpertZone FIFA 2016 World Finals

We had an absolute blast!

We had the chance to Project Manage, Design, Setup and Execute the Microsoft ExpertZone FIFA 2016 World Finals. Our goals were to create a fun event that brought the atmosphere of a soccer event into one of the Microsoft campus buildings. The best players from Brazil, UK, France, Germany, Mexico and US came to battle it out in the Xbox soccer arena.

During _Commentategame play, we put together a plan to display all the matches in a quadrant view on the big screen for the campus to watch, while hosting the matches on Twitch for the world to view. Our goals were to give the players and viewers a sense of authenticity to the game of soccer and feel as though they are watching a real playoff. To draw more of a buzz, the team decided to hand out free hot dogs and have the final game commentated by former Seattle Sounders soccer player Obafemi Martins.

From planning to execution we were able to deliver a world class experience that gave the players and attendees a time they will never forget.

Kaizen IT's responsibilities:

Plan the game play and keep score in real time.

We developed an automated and animated scoring system that displayed all 3 matches and scores at the same time. As the game progressed to the final match our digital scoreboard followed the playoff scoring system rules to determine the tournament matchmaking.

A/V and Tech

Our team of technicians put together a plan to execute the "End to End setup" of all the IT and A/V specifications of the event.

_Control

Project Manage run of show

Keeping track of time and making sure everyone was on cue for each turnaround of a match. This was a fast paced event and game play with many moving parts. Our on site manager communicated the A/V, re-organized the schedule to accommodate day of changes, and cued the MC to be sure that everyone was doing their part with efficiency.

Design space and print banner and signage

Working with the client we were able to put together the properties, banners and signage throughout the event to give the space a World Finals soccer match atmosphere. Our design added artificial turf that replicated a soccer field to give the event a bigger than life video game play experience.
Part of design is to give the clients a layout of the space. We made this easy for them to visualize and make changes during pre-event planning by creating a 3D model of the space. See below of rendering and onsite pictures taken at the event.
